A momentous event
It’s taken a lot of time, commitment and discipline, but I have finally finished knitting my Medetith Sweater. When I took it on in June 2009 I knew it was a long-term project, but didn’t realise it would take quite this long, and be the only project I’ve had to mend moth holes in before it was finished. Also, when I say ‘finished’, I mean except for the neck band, seaming and epic weaving-in-of-ends mission.

What made this project drag on was it’s lack of portability. The number of colours involved, the non-repeating pattern, and the complex shaping all kept it house-bound. It wasn’t particularly difficult – just lots of do x while doing y … and AT THE SAME TIME do z style instructions.
I’ve got no reason to believe it wont be worth the effort. Kim Hargreaves patterns always fit well, it is soft merino (a mixture of Debbie Bliss Rialto 4 Ply and Rowan 4 Ply Soft), and the colours look great. I have been saving some vintage mother of pearl buttons to finish it off.
In a few weeks, hopefully I’ll have some photos of it in wearable form.
This is absolutely stunning! It will be well worth the time and effort you put in. I’m sure it’s going to look beautiful on and you will enjoy wearing it for years to come.
That is simply gorgeous – I applaud your patience & courage in taking on a project like that! I’m more of the most-bang-for-my-buck type of knitter – I want something that’s easy to knit, and I can finish quickly (probably why I love make gifts for girlfriends who are having babies!!) I dream of one day developing enough patience to knit something like this
