With so many new shades of Favourite Sock over the last few months, we thought it was about time we put together some new yarn combo ideas for multi-coloured projects.

Don’t be afraid to mix variegated, speckled and semi-solid shades. This fiery combo is VampireTarnished Copper and Harvest Moon.

Keep is simple with classic pinks: La Vie En Rose, Candy and Hot Thing.

Or if you like your pinks more modern: Reaction, Careless Whisper and La Vie En Rose.

Go for bold bursts of contrasting colour with Rotten Apple, Vampire and Water Slide.

Make rainbows with Reaction, Magical Unicorn and Refraction.

A zingy complementary combo: Aurora, Ectoplasm and Harvest Moon.

Urban chic: Hot Thing, Gritty and Rotten Apple.

Our recent FO: marled baby blanket demonstrates how working in simple garter stitch with two strands of hand-dyed yarn together can give really striking effects, but there are so many other exciting ways sock yarns can be combined. For inspiration, here is a selection of our favourite patterns for multi-colour effects: Loop shawl by Casapinka, So Faded sweater by Angela Mowry, Allele socks by Nathan Taylor, Briochette shawl by Nadia Crétin-Léchenne and Speckled Fade scarf by Stephen West.
