Three very special hand spun skeins of natural-dyed Oxford Down yarn.

The total weight 125g (yardage not known – sorry we forgot to measure!)

  • Onion (yellow) – 54g, dyed with onion skins gathered from our kitchen
  • Madder (orange/peach) – 36g, dyed with madder root extract
  • Teal (aqua) – 35g, dyed with a blend of plant-based extracts known as ‘teal’

The yarn has a springy texture that will allow it to be knitted at a range of tensions, roughly from DK to aran.

These subtle, plant-based shades harmonise beautifully and are designed to be used together, perhaps in a striped hat or a cosy pair of Fair Isle mittens?

The yarn is soft, springy and lightweight with a woolly texture. Oxford Down is a native British sheep breed, which produces a fine, dense wool with a good staple.
