Yarn store update and yarn bargains!
If you’re following us on Instagram you’ll know that we’ve been busy organising the new studio and dyeing tasty new shades. To make sure you don’t miss out, head to The Yarn Store from 6pm UK time (18:00 UTC) where you’ll be able to get your hands on all them (and it will be really hard for me to part with some of these!).
Here’s a preview of some of our favourites from the new batch…
Clockwise from left:
- Awesome Aran British BFL in ‘Purple Heart’: We’ve had a lot of requests for a semi-solid purple so here it is! It’s an enticing blend of plum and violet, dip-dyed three times for depth and blend of colour.
- Awesome Aran British BFL in ‘Dark Opal’: We can’t stop looking at this! Part variegated, part random dyed (to avoid pooling when knitted), it’s an overall dark green/grey with flashes of deep reds, greens and blues. We wouldn’t put so much colour in a jumper-weight yarn but we think it’s pretty special.
- British BFL combed top/roving in ‘Kir Royal’: That’s right, we’ve created hand-dyed spinning fibre for the first time. It’s made from the same fine micron, superwash treated British BFL as Awesome Aran. We ordered just 1kg of it to try out and we’re delighted with the results but it’s now sold out from the mill so if you miss out this time, there could be a long wait for the next batch.
- Favourite Sock merino 4 ply in ‘La Vie En Rose’ and ‘Space Race’: Space Race is very close to ‘Dark Opal’, but we’ve used darker tones. La Vie En Rose is a deep pink shade that’s both refined and bright – one of the most popular shades from a previous range. It’s available on Favourite Sock for the first time, perfect for an all-over colour hit or to add a pop of contrast with other shades. Have a look at Brixtonpurl’s beautiful lace shawl to see how it looks knitted up.
Now for the bargains… Firstly, a few of our dye kits got their lids squashed in the move so we’ve added a discount to those. The contents are unharmed, it’s only the boxes that have cosmetic damage, so they’re ideal if you’d like a kit for yourself. Get your (these few are for UK only).
Secondly, we’ve gathered all our yarn offers onto one page to make them easier to find. We regularly update this shade with all types of bargains, including yarn + pattern kits, discount packs and discontinued shades.
Lastly, until next Saturday (21 January) there’s a special discount on as it’s pretty much perfect for a Cat hat.
Women’s March is taking place on Saturday 21 January in cities all over the world, including London. People of all genders will gather in an international day of action in solidarity for the protection of our fundamental rights. The Pussyhat Project invites you to knit, crochet or sew a pink hat to make a collective visual statement and ensure the message gets seen (and Pink Sunshine will definitely get seen)! Even if you can’t make it to a march, you can take part and knit one for someone you know, or to donate.
The official cat hat knitting pattern is available as a free PDF, and there are lots of variations for other sizes and yarn weights on Ravelry.
