Since launching our yarn dyeing kits a little over two years ago, we’ve turned many a yarn lover into a yarn dyer! Lots of kits were gifted for the winter holidays (and we suspect quite a few were self-gifted), and we’ve been enjoying watching all the beautiful yarns appear, each one unique and as individual as their creators.

It’s always a surprise to see the variety of styles you create with our kits. Nannybonk created the skein below with just pink, blue and yellow:

And here it is being crocheted into a stunning shawl:

cressid used the same three colours to create something completely different, and shared pictures of the dyeing process:

And the finished skein:

One of the first people to try out our Speckled Dyeing Kit when it launched was mimicodd, who made this pretty blue and green skein:

Two years on it’s still being put to good use!

More yarn being put to good use: museligirl has used her skein for a pretty pair of socks:

donnatroughton used similar cheery colours for a painted effect:

jocreates8‘s first hand-dyed skein was a deep and stormy affair (and we think it is perfect):

But it’s not just dyeing!  We’ve been dyeing small amounts of spinning fibre for a while, and in January we launched our first custom blend: Lustre Blend (read more about it here).

This beautiful finished yarn was shared on our Facebook page by Rebecca Isaksson:

I’m so happy to see Lustre Blend spun as a singles yarn because it’s just made for it – its long staple makes it ideal for low-twist spinning, which really shows off its shine, but my amateur spinning is not up to it!

Almost all of the first batch of Lustre Blend has now sold. Rebecca used out ‘Rainforest‘ colourway, of which we have just one brad left. Don’t worry, we have another batch arriving from the mill in the next few weeks.
