Shade: Verdigris – A mixture of dark, green and gold tones that meld together to resemble the patina of tarnished copper or bronze. (batch 4)
Indulgence is a luxurious spinning fibre blending fine wools, soft baby alpaca, and mulberry silk for hand-spinning bliss. It glistens with jewel-like, multi-faceted colour in classically inspired shades.
Indulgence Blend suits most spinning techniques, and spun yarn has a beautiful drape. It is also suitable for felting projects.
We've picked from a range of sheep breeds to create each shade, showcasing native British wool whenever possible. Each fibre is described below.
British Bluefaced Leicester wool – a favourite native sheep breed of knitters and spinners due to the fineness of its fibres, subtle lustre and long staple length of around 90mm. It is a dream to spin and resistant to pilling.
British Shetland wool – a soft, delicate, uniquely crimped native wool that gives a plump, lofty yarn.
Merino wool – a soft and versatile fibre that works well with most spinning techniques. Our merino is farmed in South America, is non-mulesed, and is OEKO-TEX 100 certified.
Corriedale wool – another favourite with hand spinners, prized for its fine texture and soft crimp. Farmed in New Zealand.
Grade A Mulberry silk – silk gives this blend its drape and shine. But this is not just any silk – Mulberry is a cultivated silk made by Bombyx Mori moth, with a diet of Mulberry leaves! It is finer and brighter white than cheaper Tussah silk and has an almost metallic glow when dyed.
Baby Alpaca – a cloud-like, luxurious fibre from Alpacas' first sheering (the finest they'll ever produce), creating an extraordinarily soft and luxurious yarn.
