Nestled against the City of London's original Roman walls, the Barbican estate arose from 40 acres of WWII bomb devastation. Its foreboding scale and Brutalist exterior enclose a leafy central waterscape, while curved concrete forms and tactile surfaces envelop its inhabitants and visitors.
