During our 9th birthday week I’m taking the opportunity to introduce some of the many folks that have supported It’s a Stitch Up behind the scenes. So without further ado, meet Jovanna!
Jovanna is the Graphic Designer responsible for our fab logo, which replaced my rather amateur creation in 2015, but she is also contributed SO much more to It’s a Stitch Up.
Jovanna and I met in 2011 as coworkers, but quickly became friends, bonding over our mutual love of barista espresso and design. Jovanna taught me everything I know about designing for print, InDesign and document grids – it’s thanks to her that our patterns are beautifully typeset and our packaging looks great.
It should come as no surprise that Jovanna is also a stitcher, though a master of crochet rather than knitting. Her gift for aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail are evident in her crochet creations, often formed of tiny stitches using sock yarn, including epic blankets:
She makes beautiful critters for small people.
Then there’s the quirky crochet cacti she made for Geo Fleur.
And the downright wacky Magical Mystery Vest commission.
Jovanna now lives in Malmö, Sweden, which is one of my favourite places to visit for design inspiration. She always knows the best design shops, art museums, yarn shops and of course, coffee, but no trip to Malmö is complete without a pilgrimage to The Bridge (yes THE Bridge).
Look forward to hanging out soon, Jovanna!
