My first necklace

After just a couple of evenings I have a new necklace! Yes, it’s over the top, but exactly what I had in mind. I love it.

I used one strand of 10 mm round pearls, 2 strands of 7 x 5 mm rice pearls, 4 strands of 3.5 x 2 mm rice pearls, 3 mm Swarovski bicone beads (left over from the wedding dress) and of course my Deco rhinestone clasp. It’s strung on 0.38 mm flexible beading wire, finished with Sterling crimps and crimp covers.

The mini tools I got turn out to be awkward to use. I recommend splashing out on a full sized crimp tool, cutters and pliers. Even so, the stringing and crimping were very easy.

I can’t wait to start work on my next creation. I have put together a Flickr gallery of beautiful and unusual necklaces to get the inspiration flowing.
